Hourly Rate:

  • Payrate 1: Day shifts £17.20
  • Payrate 2: Waking nights £18.20
  • Payrate 3: Weekend / bank holidays day £19.20
  • Payrate 4: Weekend / Bank Holiday waking night £20.20

Travel Allowance: Considered if traveling more than a 10-mile radius. Other benefits include free parking at the client's house, mileage for non-commuting activities, flexible shift patterns.

Summary:

Our client is recruiting on behalf of an established organization that provides support to children and adults with catastrophic and complex brain injuries. They are seeking Support Workers to assist in the client's home and community.

If you have experience in caregiving, empathy, and patience, this is an excellent opportunity to advance your career with a successful organization. You'll receive comprehensive training and supervision within a supportive team.

As a Support Worker, you'll provide high-quality care to a teenager with cerebral palsy in their home and local community. You may work day or night shifts. Your responsibilities include personal care, therapy support, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring the client's safety and welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the client with daily living activities and domestic tasks.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and case manager to assess, implement, and evaluate the client's support.
  • Maintain accurate records of care and communicate information from one shift to another.
  • Support and care for the client while respecting their dignity and privacy.
  • Attend supervision meetings and team meetings as required.
  • Report any changes in the client's condition and take appropriate action.
  • Encourage the client's participation in age-appropriate activities and outings.
  • Assist the client with therapy programs and community activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience in caregiving, paid or voluntary.
  • Empathetic and patient approach.
  • Full driving license is advantageous (wheelchair-accessible vehicle available).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • DBS check required.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

Other Information:

  • Shifts and rates may vary based on client needs.
  • Applicants invited for an interview will need to provide proof of their right to work in the UK.
  • Successful candidates will undergo an Enhanced DBS Check with Children and Adult Barred List.

Personal Care:

  • Assist the client with mobility and personal care tasks.
  • Prompt and supervise medication administration.
  • Support and encourage the client's participation in meal preparation.

Support and Rehabilitation:

  • Assist with structured activities and therapy sessions.
  • Drive the client in a wheelchair-adapted vehicle.
  • Attend and assist with various therapy sessions and programs.
  • Plan and manage household maintenance.

Specialist Equipment & Manual Handling:

  • Familiarity with specialist equipment and mobility aids.
  • Ensure equipment is used safely and report faults.

Cleaning:

  • Laundry and cleaning of the client's clothes.
  • Tidying and cleaning of the property.

Holidays:

  • Accompany the client on holidays.

Ad Hoc:

  • Respond to emergencies.
  • Facilitate the client's independence.
  • Minimize risks to health and safety.
  • Maintain high-quality care and communication.
  • Record and document work accurately.
  • Contribute to effective work scheduling.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Literacy and numeracy to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Experience in caregiving (paid or voluntary).
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate records in English.
  • Understanding of dignity and respect.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and Data Protection.
  • Empathetic and approachable.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Clean full driving license.

Desirable:

  • A-level education or equivalent (e.g., NVQ in Health & Social Care).
  • Experience working with children with additional physical needs (paid or voluntary).
  • Existing relevant competencies (e.g., multidisciplinary team working).
  • Experience driving wheelchair-adapted vehicles.
