Description

A part-time Personal Assistant (PA) position is available to support a 31-year-old professional athlete who uses a motorized wheelchair and competes at national and international levels in a Paralympic sport. The role is based near Harrow, Middlesex, and involves assisting the athlete with various aspects of their daily life and sporting career.

Key Requirements:

  • Reliable with good time-keeping.
  • Patient, a good listener, and professional.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Must hold a current and valid UK passport and be legally permitted to work in the UK.
  • Must be able to drive and have a full and clean UK driving license (a vehicle will be provided).
  • Flexibility to travel, including within the UK and possibly abroad, for training camps and competitions, sometimes on weekends.
  • A valid and current UK passport is required for international travel.
  • A DBS check will be required (paid for by the employer).
  • Ability to manage a medication schedule and training records.
  • Ability to provide support during national and international events (transport and accommodation provided by the employer).
  • Knowledge of sportsperson's life and an understanding of mental health is an advantage.
  • Ability to assist with personal hygiene, such as showering.
  • Ability to work in a team, follow instructions, and work independently.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing the athlete's diary and assisting with their sport career.
  • Assisting with daily life activities.
  • Booking doctor’s routine/review appointments.
  • Maintaining the PA team's attendance schedule and records.
  • Providing emotional support.
  • Various administrative tasks.

The role is part-time, approximately 15 hours per week, with the potential for overtime, especially during competition weekends. The PA team's schedules are provided at least two weeks in advance to allow for personal arrangements. The position comes with annual leave and sick leave entitlements, as well as a code of conduct and disciplinary policies in place.

Full training will be provided, and a comprehensive operations manual will be supplied.
