Job Description:

A Care Escort is responsible for assisting and transporting patients or individuals within a healthcare facility. They ensure that patients are moved safely, efficiently, and with compassion while adhering to all healthcare protocols and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Transport: Safely transport patients from one area of the healthcare facility to another, such as from their room to a diagnostic department or operating room.

2. Patient Comfort: Ensure the comfort and well-being of patients during transportation, providing emotional support and reassurance as needed.

3. Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict infection control, sanitation, and safety protocols to prevent the spread of infections or diseases within the healthcare facility.

4. Equipment Handling: Operate and maintain patient transport equipment, such as wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition.

5. Communication: Maintain clear communication with healthcare staff, patients, and their families to coordinate patient transportation and address any special needs or concerns.

6. Privacy and Confidentiality: Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality at all times, following HIPAA regulations and institutional policies.

7. Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies during patient transport, including providing basic first aid and alerting medical staff when necessary.

8. Documentation: Accurately document patient transport activities, including departure and arrival times, in the healthcare facility's records.

9. Adherence to Schedule: Follow a predetermined schedule for patient transport, ensuring that patients arrive at their appointments or procedures on time.

10. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families, answering questions and addressing concerns courteously and professionally.

11. Training and Development: Participate in training programs to stay updated on safety procedures, equipment usage, and healthcare facility policies.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Physical fitness and the ability to lift and move patients as necessary.
• Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency response procedures.
• Familiarity with medical equipment used in patient transport.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes emotionally charged environment.

Working Conditions:
