Description

A fantastic opportunity to work for a private HNWI family as their home in North West London. This friendly family is looking to bring on board a Kitchen Assistant/Family Cook with Housekeeping to assist the Head Chef in the preparation of food for the Principals, with a proven ability to cook without assistance, perform administrative functions and maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and its operation plus carry out housekeeping duties. Must be flexible in their approach.

Key areas:

Assisting the Head Chef and/or any other Chef with preparation of food.
Preparing food with sole responsibility.
Implementing all aspects of the kitchen management system including stock management and ordering and/or any other administrative function.
Maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen, and all dining areas at all times and ensuring the kitchen is operational.
Providing a wide variety of professional domestic services in line with all procedures and policies ensuring at all times the smooth running of the household.

Key Responsibilities: 

Assisting with the preparation of food. 

Assisting the Main Chef during the week with preparing and cooking for meals, dinner parties. Plan and deliver with the Chef quality creative menus in advance to meet the needs of the Principals bearing in mind dietary requirements and personal taste at all times.
Prepare snacks and packed lunches for children.
Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking foods and helping to prepare salads and desserts and all food items as requested bearing in mind the family’s dietary requirements.
Service of food/presentation.

Preparing food with sole responsibility

During the week, being able to independently prepare and cook light delicious, healthy, well-balanced meals (breakfast, lunch), and dinner when requested for the family and/or any guests. On Saturday/Sundays light dinners as well as breakfast and lunch to be prepared/cooked as and when requested bearing in mind all dietary rules.

Administrative function

• Implementing all aspects of the kitchen management system following all stock management and ordering procedures ensuring accurate shopping lists are provided at dates and times as specified by the Principals.

Organising the stock cupboards.
Maintain and add to the bank of recipes.
Discussing with the Chef/Principals preferred family choices.
Keeping records of all important data like wastage.
Implement Food Safety Plan and all other instruction relating to hygiene.
Manage the freezer/fridge/cupboards so that food which is out of date is disposed of in a timely manner.
Assisting with suppliers/SMART shopping as and when required to do so.
Dealing with food deliveries.

Maintaining cleanliness

Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or surface areas and ensuring the food preparation areas plus dining areas are clean and hygienic following all guidance, in particular, the Food Safety Plan.
Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored in the correct manner.
Disposing of rubbish.

Housekeeping

Working with the existing cleaning manual, ensuring other colleagues are following the manual. Recording any additional information that should be added to the manual.
Diligent care of all items, antique and bespoke, following the specialist manuals for guidance on how to clean and care for them.
Where requested, laundry care, including the washing of delicate items, ironing and pressing. Maintaining their storage in the wardrobes.
Efficient wardrobe management together with off-site laundry tracking.
Managing and carrying out a turndown service.
Dusting and polishing furniture and equipment.
Polishing silver accessories and metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
