DIRECTOR OF STRATEGY AND PLANNING

ASSOCIATION OF ACCOUNTING TECHNICIANS (AAT)

At AAT, our mission is to democratize the opportunities that a career in finance offers by providing accessible qualifications and fostering a supportive community. As the premier qualification and professional membership body for vocational accountants in the UK, we take pride in offering practical qualifications that cater to the needs of both employers and employees. Our range of products and services ensures continuous support for our members and customers throughout their professional journeys.

What will your role entail?

In this newly established role of Strategy and Planning Director at AAT, you will join us in our transformative journey. You will eventually report to the Executive Director of Strategy and Compliance, but for now, your reporting line will be to the CEO.

Key Objectives

  • Identify and analyze emerging trends that could influence, impact, or provide opportunities for AAT.
  • Lead and oversee the formulation, development, and execution of the organization's strategy.
  • Design and implement the annual planning process for corporate and strategic plans.
  • Provide oversight and direction to the Brand Strategy function, ensuring alignment with defined brand identity and values for tracking and evaluating campaigns.

What are we seeking?

You should possess significant senior management experience in strategy and business planning, along with a comprehensive understanding of performance systems and measurement. Your background should also encompass operational implementation of outward-facing services.

Previous experience leading a strategic planning function is essential, involving collaboration with teams to translate strategy into achievable objectives for timely and successful delivery.

With a degree or equivalent qualification, you should demonstrate commercial and financial acumen, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills. Relationship-building prowess is crucial, as is an appreciation of the power of effective communication and influence across diverse stakeholder groups.

Your profile should exude vision, influence, impact, and emotional intelligence to navigate various stakeholders, including AAT teams, members, committees, Board members, and external partners.

What are the perks?

At AAT, we prioritize the well-being of our staff, reflected in our comprehensive benefits package:

  • Hybrid working model (1-2 days per week in our London office) and potential for further flexibility.
  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Excellent pension scheme, life assurance, and critical illness coverage.
  • Health cash plan.
  • Enhanced maternity and shared parental leave with contributions of up to 6 months' full pay based on service length.
  • Regular well-being initiatives.
  • Cycle2Work scheme and more.
