Langdon UK presents a dynamic opening for a Maintenance Assistant to join our expanding team in Elstree, Hertfordshire.

Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 per annum

Maintenance Assistant – The Role:

As a Maintenance Assistant, you'll be responsible for maintaining the properties within our ownership and management. This role will be based in Elstree, Hertfordshire, requiring travel between local properties.

Our ideal candidate is versatile, with experience handling various aspects of general house maintenance, encompassing repairs, joinery, plumbing, light electrical work, and painting and decorating.

This position will involve close collaboration with Tenancy & Housing Officers and the Head of Housing & Facilities Management. Duties encompass inspecting and advising on issues, liaising with care support staff, tenants, and external tradespeople. As necessary, training in specific skills will be provided.

Maintenance Assistant - Key Responsibilities:

• Support the housing team to ensure compliance with all regulations and legal responsibilities linked to Langdon's portfolio, such as Legionella, Asbestos, and Fire Safety.

• Conduct health and safety checks including fire alarm testing, legionella flushing, emergency light testing, and site safety/security checks regularly at Langdon properties and offices, ensuring the well-being of our members and staff.

• Implement a preventative, planned maintenance program and conduct routine inspections of premises, fixtures, fittings, utility meters, and grounds.

• Undertake repairs, maintenance, improvements, and inspections to uphold the overall condition of the premises, including assembling furniture, fitting curtain poles, and addressing general household repairs.

• Act as a point of contact for Contractors attending properties, ensuring they are well-versed in the organization's attendance protocols. Ensure full compliance with health and safety procedures, risk assessments, and necessary permits to work. Oversee the proper signing out and recovery of keys, access cards, and codes/fobs to maintain building security.

Maintenance Assistant - Qualifications:

• Minimum GCSE level education or equivalent with English and Maths proficiency

• Alternatively, hold a QCF Level 2 in Building Maintenance, Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment Operations, or a similar qualification

• Effective communication skills; experience working with adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Asperger’s Syndrome is advantageous but not obligatory
