Recycling Technician, Chard

Join Urenco as a Recycling Technician and become an integral part of our UUK Recycling team at the Capenhurst location. In this role, you'll play an active role in providing a safe and cost-effective recycling service to URENCO UK, including vacuum pump decontamination, to support plant rebuilds or waste disposal within the URENCO Group.

Your Responsibilities:

• Safely perform recycling activities involving pump parts, plant components, chemical traps, and sample cylinders, adhering to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Order materials and work according to defined Working Instructions to meet plant operational needs.
• Enter data into databases, perform checks, tests, calibrations, and calculations, addressing issues or taking action within your authority.
• Provide training to enhance the team's skills and capabilities.
• Contribute to process and Working Instruction improvements for safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Handle and monitor radioactive materials while ensuring compliance with safety rules and Transport of Dangerous Goods Regulations.

Your Qualifications and Skills:

• HNC / NVQ (Level 3) or equivalent, and experience in Chemical/Nuclear refurbishment (desirable).
• Proficiency with measuring and test equipment.
• Strong manual dexterity and familiarity with recycling equipment.
• Ability to work with department systems for data input and extraction.
• Effective interpersonal skills for teamwork and training.
• Knowledge of local health, safety, environmental procedures, and regulations, including dangerous goods transportation.
• Problem-solving skills and understanding of criticality control and chemical handling (COSHH).
