Hardly used handmade Persian silk rug kept in immaculate condition for the past 40 years (without pets, dust or humidity).

Appearance and Colours:
- Ivory colour background with Arabesque foliage pattern and central medallion.
- Border background colour of taupe, with secondary colours of red, burgundy, navy, green, teal, olive, grey and various other shades.
- Handwoven Qum design (an Iranian origin, 1980).
- Signed Fallah and Kashan at the edge (indicating its production in one of the most famous specialists carpet workshops in Iran, the Fallah Workshop of Kashan, see below for more details on manufacture).
Material and Dimensions:
- Consists of a tight silk pile on a silk foundation.
- Measurements (including fringes): 136cm X 80 cm.
- Weight: around 3 pounds/ 1.4 kg.
- 100 knots per cm2; 128cm X 80cm X 100 (knots per square cm) = 1024000 knots in total.

History:
Kashan is a city in the province of Isfahan in central Iran. Kashan has been a centre of silk production since Safavid times and some of the best classical Persian silk rugs have been attributed to Kashan. They now produce both wool and silk carpets that are world-renowned. Examples of this exist in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Manufacturing:
Signed production of Fallah Workshop which is one of the most famous specialist workshops in Kashan. Hand prepared, hand-dyed (with natural dyes) and handwoven. The warp and weft yarns are exquisite silk. This silk carpet adds vibrant colour to a room and manifests its owner’s wealth and taste. The design lends itself to be used as a wall-hanging, like a painting (framed on the wall) or exquisite settee covering or displaying on a central floor area (as the focal point in a room).
