Home Care Assistant / Community Care Assistant

Sittingbourne

Our client is a private company offering quality elderly care to people who are extremely failing or disabled. Their services include personal care, domestic assistance, and social care services to people in their homes within the Swale district of Kent, making a difference to the most vulnerable members of the community.

About the Home Care Assistant job:

You will be responsible for attending to the domestic, personal care, rehabilitation and social needs of clients, aimed at creating an environment where the clients can achieve and maintain independence in their own homes, under the management of the care co-ordinators or senior carers.

The tasks will vary depending on the needs of individual clients. The needs of the client will be assessed by Management and a care plan is written, this will be explained to the home care assistant who will report any changes in needs and report any concerns to Management.

Your duties will be varied and may include household tasks, personal care, rehabilitation and administration including duties

?? Cooking meals in the absence of the meal service or where special dietary needs may be necessary.

?? Shopping for food and other household essentials.

?? Washing and ironing as necessary including bed making.

?? Budgeting and banking (with the authorisation of the care co-ordinator or Manager).

?? Helping the client in and out of bed.

?? Helping the client dress and undress.

?? Incontinence laundry/ appropriate mending.

?? Motivating services users to maintain their care plans which have been agreed by your care co-ordinator or manager and another professional service (s).

?? Help with the development of household skills including advising on nutrition, cooking and budgeting.

?? To complete a monthly review form on each service user in accordance with the company's appraisals

?? To assist the local office in ensuring your staff records and personal files are kept up to date.

Please note that NO nursing procedures or attention are required including administrating drugs or changing dressings etc.

About you

Ideally, you will have worked in a similar role and be an excellent communicator with a passion for helping vulnerable people. The hours are flexible, but you will be required to work every other weekend.

You will need to have your own transport and the position will be subject to a full DBS check.

Training

You will be required to attend induction training and to attend such future training sessions as may be required from time to time for the purpose of introducing service innovation and other relevant information for the benefit of the organisation.
