Principal Software Engineer

Principal Software Engineer, up to GBP110k + Bonus + Equity + Benefits, Central London

A leading HealthTech business, who are setting up a brand new office in the UK, are seeking a t-shaped Senior / Principal Engineer who will help determine their technical roadmap, tools, culture, architecture whilst helping their Engineering Director build out a new tech team from scratch.

This is an exceptionally unique opportunity as this team has huge investment but is completely new, so everything you'll develop is greenfield. You'll have plenty of autonomy over the products you create. Moreover, your products will change lives for patients suffering from terminal illnesses so your role with has a massive social impact.

The role:

We're looking for a strong Principal Software Engineer to create brand new products from scratch for a leading HealthTech whose mission is to accelerate treatment for severely ill patients. You will be T-Shaped with a broad understanding of multiple technologies/languages so that you can choose the right tools for the job. This is a critical hire as the decisions you make early on will shape the products and future hires going forward. You will love working within start-up cultures where you're expected to "wear many hats" and have the gravitas to lead and inspire those around you.

We'd love to speak with you if you are...

* Tech agnostic, experienced across multiple stacks so that you are able to confidently select which tools/tech to choose for our brand-new products

* Experienced working within a start-up environment where you have directly influenced the team and product roadmap

* We are passionate about building strong collaborative teams, so you'll have great communication skills, able to translate technical jargon for non-technical audiences

* Passionate about Agile / clean-coding practices and able to impart this knowledge to the rest of the team - you'll probably have led training sessions or introduced improved ways of working off your own back

* Comfortable with Python and happy in the cloud (AWS / GCP)

* You will likely hold a relevant university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or similar, however, we'll consider other backgrounds if you've got a strong track record in software development

* Bonus points if you've also worked in a HealthTech / MedTech previously.
