Use Romb with your AI agent

Use Romb with your AI agent

Find listings without an account

Agents can search public listings and read advert details without a key. See public search and MCP documentation and the OpenAPI specification. The member tools below still require your own key.

Romb has an API, so an AI assistant or agent can manage your adverts for you — posting new ones, keeping prices and descriptions up to date, adding photographs, and turning a shop's product list into adverts. You stay in charge of the account; the agent does the typing.

What you can ask it to do

Any assistant that can call a web API with a key — an AI agent platform, a custom GPT with actions, Claude with a tool, or your own automation — can use Romb. In practice you ask for things like:

  • “Post an advert for my two-bedroom flat in Leeds at £950 a month, using these photos.”
  • “Put my twenty best-selling products from our shop on Romb, and keep the prices in step every night.”
  • “Check my live adverts and tell me which ones have no photograph or a thin description.”
  • “Reduce the price of my sofa advert to £180.”
  • “Which of my adverts expire this week?”

The member connection manages your adverts only. For marketplace discovery, use the separate anonymous public search connection above.

Setting it up

  1. Create a key. Sign in and go to Members Area → API keys. Name it after the agent (“My assistant”), so you can tell keys apart later. Copy it straight away — it is shown once.
  2. Give it to your agent. Put the key wherever your agent keeps credentials, and point it at https://www.romb.co.uk/llms.txt, which tells it what Romb can do and how. Developers will want the API documentation.
  3. Ask it to check the connection. A good first request is “check my Romb key works” — it should come back with your account's email address.

Connect your AI agent

Your Romb key connects the agent to your account. Your agent writes the content; you can review a private draft before publishing.

  1. Create a keyOpen API keys, name it after your agent and copy the complete key when it appears.
  2. Add Romb to your agentChoose a remote MCP connection and enter these settings. Save the key in the agent's credential settings.
  3. Check the accountAsk: “Run romb_whoami and confirm which Romb account is connected.” Then ask it to draft your page.

Authentication
Bearer token: paste your complete romb_live_… key

If the client asks for a header instead, use Authorization with the value Bearer YOUR_ROMB_API_KEY. If it supports SSE only, use https://mcp.romb.co.uk/sse with the same header on the stream and messages.

Configuration for clients that accept JSON
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "romb": {
      "url": "https://mcp.romb.co.uk/mcp",
      "headers": {

      }
    }
  }
}

Replace YOUR_ROMB_API_KEY in the template with your complete key.

Using the REST API instead

Use https://www.romb.co.uk/api/v1 and the header X-API-KEY: YOUR_ROMB_API_KEY. Start with GET /api/v1/me, then GET /api/v1/landing-pages. Follow the API documentation and page guide.

Each connection uses your own account. Revoke its key to disconnect it. Clients must support custom authentication headers; automatic OAuth sign-in is not available.

What stays in your control

  • Every new advert is checked before it goes live — the same checks as an advert posted on the website. An agent cannot publish straight to the site.
  • Bulk changes can be previewed. When an agent syncs a product list it can ask for a dry run first, which shows exactly what would be created, updated or removed and changes nothing. Ask your agent to show you that before it goes ahead.
  • You can switch it off at any moment. Revoke the key in API keys and the agent stops working immediately. Your adverts stay as they are.
  • Limits keep a runaway agent in check: 100 new adverts and 1,200 photographs a day, and 300 requests an hour, per key.

Good to know

  • Adverts your agent posts are your adverts. They are covered by our terms and conditions exactly as if you had typed them, so check that what it writes describes the real item — condition, size, price and all.
  • Keep the key private. Anyone holding it can post adverts as you. Do not paste it into shared chats, documents or public code. If it might have been seen, revoke it and create another.
  • One key per agent makes it easy to switch one off without affecting the others, and shows when each was last used.
