Advertise on Romb

People come to Romb with an intention. They are replacing a boiler, looking for a van, hiring a plasterer, filling a vacancy or finding somewhere to rent. They arrive already in the market, and they arrive by category and by town, which means an advertiser can reach the people looking for exactly what they sell in exactly the place they work.

We sell space to businesses that want to be in front of that audience, whether that is a local tradesperson upgrading a single advert or a national brand taking a category.

Premium adverts

£4.95 for 30 days, bought through the Wallet in My Romb.

A premium advert holds a position above standard adverts in its category and appears in the featured slots on the homepage and on search results pages. It suits anyone with a single item, vehicle, property or vacancy that they want seen quickly.

You can upgrade an advert at any point in its life, so it is worth using on a listing that has gone quiet rather than only on new ones.

Promoted listings

For sellers with more than one thing to sell, we can promote listings across a whole account rather than one advert at a time. Options include priority position in a chosen category, priority position for a chosen town or postcode area, and a scheduled refresh that returns your adverts to the top of the newest-first ordering.

This is the usual choice for car dealers, letting agents, recruiters and traders carrying a standing set of adverts.

Business directory listings

The Businesses directory is a permanent entry for your company that works independently of any advert. A listing carries your trading name, description, contact details, opening hours, service area, and your accreditations and licence numbers.

Enhanced listings add a logo, gallery, longer description and priority position in directory searches for your trade and your area. Because directory pages are indexed and hold their position over time, a listing keeps working between campaigns.

Category sponsorship

A sponsor takes exclusive presence across a category or a location for a fixed term. That includes a banner across the category pages, a sponsor credit on the category listing, and first position in that category's featured slots.

Categories that suit sponsorship include flooring, building and construction, plumbing and heating, cleaning, motors, and the property and jobs sections. Insurers, manufacturers, suppliers, franchises and training providers tend to be the natural buyers, because their customers are the traders already advertising there.

Sponsorships are sold one advertiser per category per term.

Display advertising

We carry banner and in-feed display across the site and the app:

  • homepage banners
  • in-feed units within search results and category listings
  • sidebar placements on listing and advert pages
  • app placements

Placements can be targeted by category and by location, so a regional advertiser is not paying for national impressions. We accept standard IAB creative sizes.

Email and alert placements

Users who save a search receive alerts when matching adverts appear. Those emails carry a sponsor slot, and because the recipient chose the search themselves, the targeting is specific.

Newsletter and blog placements are available on the same basis.

Sector packages

Recruiters, estate and letting agents, and motor dealers usually want to load many adverts at once and keep them current. We can set up bulk posting and feed uploads so your stock or vacancies sync automatically, along with a branded seller page that collects all your live adverts in one place.

Talk to us about volume before you start posting manually, because the account limits that apply to private sellers are not designed for a dealer or an agency.

Bespoke campaigns

We also build campaigns that do not fit a rate card: sponsored articles on the Romb blog, competitions, seasonal takeovers, and content built around a category. Sponsored editorial is labelled as advertising, which is a legal requirement rather than a preference.

What we ask of advertisers

Everything you run with us has to comply with the CAP Code and with UK advertising law. In practice:

  • claims must be accurate and capable of proof if the ASA asks
  • prices must include compulsory charges
  • financial products, credit and investments can only be promoted by a firm authorised under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, or with the promotion approved by one
  • gambling, alcohol, and age restricted products carry their own rules and may need age gated targeting
  • accreditations, memberships and certifications must be held, and we may ask for the registration number

We do not accept advertising for anything on the prohibited list in Annex A of our Terms and Conditions, and we do not accept advertising that would sit badly next to user adverts in the same category.

We can refuse or withdraw a campaign that breaches these rules, and no refund is due where we do.

Booking

Email cs@romb.co.uk or call +44 7361 586265. Tell us:

  • what you sell and where you work
  • the categories or locations you want to reach
  • your budget and the dates you have in mind
  • whether you have creative ready or need it built

We will come back with the placements that fit and what they cost. Campaigns are booked by insertion order and, for new advertisers, paid before the campaign starts.

Premium adverts need no discussion at all. Top up your Wallet and upgrade the advert.
