Are you an experienced Transport Planner, looking to make your mark with a new and exciting opportunity?

In your new role as Transport Planner working with us, you can expect to be challenged, and never will 2 days be the same!

We're looking for a confident, talented, seasoned leader to own our route planning for our drivers, and all the strategy and delivery that goes behind it.

We currently have a vacancy for a Transport Planner at our Dartford site. Normal working hours for this role will be 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday between the hours of 12noon - 10 pm. Flexibility will be required depending on demand.

In this new role as Transport Planner, you will be required to plan and co-ordinate the loading requirements of customer orders onto RDC's route vehicles to ensure maximum efficiency and provide next day delivery service. You will need to provide support to the daily transport operation by completing administration duties such as booking vehicle services, MOT's, carrying out Tacho downloads and resolving defects.

Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will keep them up to speed and deliver updates on any issues or changes that may need to be made to improve efficiency for Dartford.

As the new Transport Planner, you'll be outgoing and committed to your role, and have the confidence to build long-lasting relationships with your drivers to help them meet their daily needs and demands to complete their job with success and ease.

You'll also be adaptable to new surroundings and have the ability to converse with all members of staff and our wider teams. You will be able to speak with people at different levels and what is key for this role, is being able to grasp the balance.

The duties in this role include, but are not limited to:

Multi-task on a daily basis, and have the ability to manually plan up to 28+ different routes. Plan and coordinate customer orders onto the RDC'S vehicle fleet using an in-house system (Genysis / WMS) to meet business plan and operational requirements. Maintain Statutory Law on Health and Safety at Work and Transport Legislation by planning vehicle loads in compliance with weight limits and maximum delivery drops. Plan and coordinate the required resource including instructing third party suppliers to ensure customer delivery. Support the fleet maintenance for the site Fleet Vehicles (circa 26) to comply with current legislation/VOSA and 'O' licence requirements. (Servicing, MOT, PMI).Ensure all records relating to vehicle maintenance/defects and driver hours are correctly completed and up to date. Supporting and escalating any noncompliance, if necessary. Achieve agreed KPI's and customer service levels by maintaining and monitoring the effectiveness of deliveries. Identify improvements where necessary and provide feedback to the Management Team. Review, analyse and implement improvements to the RDC routes to improve cost and service performance. Continually work with the sales team and the drivers to update and improve the radial plan. Understand the cost per route based on drops, KMS and volume being delivered - weight cube and items to identify efficiencies. Support the daily de-briefing process. Essential Skills

Experience of using Traffic, Warehouse & Business Management Systems.Vehicle Tracking.Transport Scheduling Systems.Manual route planning. Have a solid recent understanding of Health & Safety legislation. Experience working with agency staff and timesheets.Must have a strong understanding of transport legislation.Good use of IT systems including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Excellent communication, listening & decision-making skills.Experience in a multi-drop distribution environment.Good attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
