Trainee / Novice Timber Front Door Fitter / Carpenter

Self-employed Role – up to £150 per day depending on experience. The role is for 5 days a week with the potential for weekend work as well.

We are looking for trainee door fitters/carpenters who want to join a growing business in which you will be trained and offered the opportunity to progress. Our workshop is based in the Twickenham area of London and candidates should be prepared to travel to the workshop on a daily basis.

You will be part of a 2 man team working alongside a very experienced carpenter to deliver and install our bespoke front doors and frames. The fitter will spend time training you in the fitting of our doors.

You will be working on live/occupied buildings removing existing doors/frames and installing new front doors and frames, along with some remedial works.

Your role as trainee door fitters/carpenters will include:

Working with a range of hand tools to cut, prepare and fit Internal and external bespoke timber front doors.
Ensuring doors are fitted to customer specifications to the highest standards.
Working in customer homes and dealing with questions on a face to face basis.
Working in a highly professional and tidy manner.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Invested in own personal development.

Essential qualities:

Have some experience working as a carpenter.
Have some of your own tools.
Be an excellent team player working within your team and the wider company.
Be well presented, professional and able to provide references
Take pride in your work.
Be comfortable talking to clients.

Ideally, as a trainee door fitter/carpenter you will:

Have a full clean driving licence.



What will you learn

Site measurement/surveys.
Installation of front doors and frames.
Removal of existing sets.
Liaising with clients for access.
Ensure materials are stored and transported in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines.
