Abcam EMEA Custom Solutions team is part of a global section that offers customers (including leaders from the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry) tailor-made, high-performance antibody discovery projects to deliver solutions for their research, diagnostic and therapeutic programs. We utilize a number of approaches, including RabMAb?? technology (our patented antibody technology), B cell cloning, Next Generation Sequencing and phage display for the development of high-quality monoclonal antibodies. The teamwork collaboratively with our partners to understand their needs and we design projects to meet these. Every project undergoes detailed scoping with a variety of approaches used to ensure we meet the project goals.
The Role:
The successful candidate will be working in a specialised team dedicated to the discovery of unique bespoke monoclonal antibodies that enable clients in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries to advance their research. The role is predominantly lab-based with the successful candidate (working alongside an existing Scientist) to co-lead the coordination of multiple projects to discover rabbit monoclonal antibodies using our proprietary RabMAb platform. This is achieved using a variety of techniques including B cell cloning and hybridoma processes to produce recombinant monoclonal Ab that are characterised using high-throughput screening and application methods. In addition, the successful candidate will provide support for more junior members of the team; this will include line management responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities:
* Apply your expertise to deliver Ab discovery projects, ensuring assay cascades are designed and executed to identify lead recombinant Ab candidates that fit the desired profile
* Work collaboratively with the Project Management team to ensure excellent communications with customers, providing necessary information to keep them appraised of project progress
* Have oversight of technical delivery of project work and support junior members of the team with their day to day work and career development goals

About You
We are looking for a talented and motivated scientist, who has worked with antibodies and understands the principles of antibody discovery and the use of assay cascades to identify candidate antibody leads. Ideally, you will have familiarity with both molecular biologies as well as immunoassay techniques, such as ELISA, HTRF, flow cytometry or Octet, and understand how to use these techniques in designing assay cascades. Experience of antibody discovery in the therapeutic field or any knowledge in the production of recombinantly expressed antibodies d would be a bonus but is not a pre-requisite
From a leadership perspective, our ideal candidate will be a team player, highly self-motivated, proactive, and collaborative with excellent organisational and communication capabilities and the ability to deliver results consistently to a high standard in a fast-paced environment.
