Description

We are looking for people who are dedicated and take pride in providing the best customer service and security experience. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Security Officer to join a Response Security Team at one of London's most iconic art venues.

In accordance with processes and procedures in place and under the direction of your line management you will ensure the safety and security of the National Gallery Collection as well as protecting its employees, property, assets and the visiting public at all times.

You will be working on a shift pattern of 5 on 3 off and will cover 42 hours of work during 5 days on duty. There also are some overtime opportunities available during our Events and Exhibitions.

You are required to deliver outstanding customer service to the visiting public, acting as a Guardian, Host and Ambassador at all times whilst on duty. Consistently demonstrate Securitas's core values of Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness as well as the galleries shared values.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Ensure you are aware of the galleries shared values and ensure they are implementedEnsure you provide a welcoming presence for all staff, guests and visitors entering the galleryEnsure you report for duty on time and are in the right positon ready for the gallery openingTake responsibility for problems / issues that staff and visitors may havePrevent and deter unauthorised access to siteTo provide a first-line response to incidents within the boundary of the galleries property lineEnsure the entrances to the gallery are correctly set up ready for opening to the gallery each day and that all relevant equipment is correctly in placeHave the ability to carry out emergency procedures within the gallery including dynamic lockdownsConduct external and internal security patrols, ensuring they are carried out effectively and safelyCarry out routine tests of security equipment where appropriateEnsure health and safety procedures are followed at all timesTo implement and adhere to any security requirement if a threat level is alteredTo respond to first aid incidents as and when requiredReport instances of property at risk of being lost / stolen, damaged or vandalisedOperate security equipment assigned to you correctlyConduct security searches when requested such as bag searching or screening of visitors and operating security search equipmentCarry out initial investigations and report both verbally and in writing on incidents, suspicious activities, objects and vehiclesRespond to panic alarm activations within the galleryRespond to calls for assistance when requested to do soInvestigate all fire alarm activations to establish what level of response is requiredAssist in salvage duties when requested to do soConduct fire marshal duties if and when requiredOperate the evacuation chairs if and when requiredTo closely liaise with the Security Team Leader / Security Duty Manager regarding operational matters cascading to team members where requiredTo ensure you maintain the required uniform standard and ensure equipment issued for your duties and returned in full working order at the end of each shiftTo complete accurate Incident/accident reports when required and maintain accurate records of eventsTo be conversant with Gallery's policy and proceduresTo participate in training and ensure attendance to all relevant training modules as requiredUndertake any other tasks identified by the Security Team Leader / Security Duty Managers and Operations Manager as being for the good and benefit of the service to the customer, and deemed to be appropriate or necessary to the post.Essential Skills

You must have a current SIA Security Licence and be available to work on a shift pattern. You must have the Right to Work in the UK and provide 5 years checkable employment history or be able to produce documentary evidence of any period of unemployment, self- employment or full and part-time education during that period. To be part of this fantastic and dynamic team you need to have the ability to be articulate and have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. You will be representing both Securitas and The National Gallery itself, so you must pride yourself in your appearance and ensure you are always immaculately turned out.
