We're currently looking for a Legal Officer to join our small, friendly legal team at a senior level, working on a 12 - 18-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension beyond that.

In this important role, you will have the chance to support the economic growth of the Three Rivers area and increase our participation in commercial property developments, joint ventures, investments and loans.

The Role

As a Legal Officer, you will provide high-quality legal advice on property matters to our organisation.

Working closely with our Property Department, you will:

- Provide advice on complex and non-complex commercial conveyancing, landlord and tenant and property-related matters

- Draft and negotiate documentation

- When needed, act as the legal lead and an intelligent client to external lawyers

- Give presentations and training on legal issues

- Mentor junior team members

About You

To join us as our Legal Officer, you'll need:

- Experience of residential and commercial conveyancing and landlord and tenant matters

- Previous experience of drafting a wide range of legal documents including leases, transfers and licences

- An understanding of the legal framework and case law relating to property law

- The ability to give practical accurate and comprehensive legal advice on a wide range of matters without requiring input from management

- The ability to use and adapt standard forms of agreements, leases and transfers

- The ability to keep up to date with changes to legislation and case law

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to negotiate on behalf of the Council

- A recognised qualification as a solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive

You may have previously worked as a Solicitor, Barrister, Legal Advisor, Legal Counsel, Conveyancer, Conveyancing Officer, Chartered Legal Executive, Residential Conveyancer, or Commercial Conveyancing Officer.
