We are looking for a General Porter to join the dynamic team at the Hospital.

You will be responsible for providing a high quality, prompt and efficient Portering service to patients, staff and visitors. The ideal candidate will have proven portering experience, be highly organised and have a pro active approach to all tasks. Ideally,

• The ability to understand and follow instructions What are the responsibilities of this General Porter role?

• To ensure that the Portering service meets the needs and expectations of Patients, Visitors and Ward team.

• To Move patients in/out and around the hospital in a safe, caring, efficient manner, ensuring their dignity, well being and safety is maintained at all times.

• To carry out daily checks on the wheel chairs, manual handling mechanical aids, record any defects accordingly to the Portering Supervisor.

• To lift, handle, transport any goods including furniture, beds, deliveries for patients/staff, medical/IT equipment, etc

• To transport clinical waste bags including sharps bins to the clinical waste storage facility; this will involve frequent exposure to highly unpleasant working conditions.

• To be able to work independently or as part of a team and with limited direct supervision
