Facilities, Estates, Buildings Repair & Maintenance Technician who has good handyperson skills such as painting and basic building maintenance experience is required for a well-established School in Dorton, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

Candidates with a trade such as plumbing, painting / decorating, carpentry or electrical would be desirable, although not essential.

SALARY: Competitive

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Facilities, Estates, Buildings Repair & Maintenance Technician who has good handyperson skills such as painting and basic building maintenance experience.

Working as the Facilities, Estates, Buildings Repair & Maintenance Technician you join the School’s Facilities and Estates team and assist in delivering a high-quality maintenance and upkeep service to meet the needs of the School.

This is a varied role and will include vital routine duties to assist with the ongoing maintenance of the School and the estate. No two days will be the same! In addition, there is the possibility of a subsidised residential opportunity for the right candidate which is set in school grounds.

As the Facilities, Estates, Buildings Repair & Maintenance Technician, you will have sound numeracy and literacy skills and have experience in basic maintenance work. You should be able to work as part of a team, have good communication skills, an eye for detail, and, be able to develop good relations with staff, pupils and the wider school community.

SCHOOL:

The School is an established co-educational Preparatory School for around 280 children aged 3 - 13+ set in a beautiful Jacobean mansion with its own thirty-acre estate in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside just twenty minutes from Oxford, Thame and Aylesbury.

The School has expanded significantly over the last fifteen years and invested heavily in its infrastructure and support systems. We aim to give every child the firmest possible grounding in the core academic subjects, within a small caring family community where children both know each other and all of the staff.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the Facilities, Estates, Buildings Repair & Maintenance Technician:

Carry out the departments planned maintenance schedule, including painting and decorating work as required

Carry out grounds maintenance (AstroTurf, swimming pool, grounds repair works)

Undertake checks on oil, water, tyres, lights, indicators for the School minibus fleet

Assist with the removal and safe management of all waste, complying with any recycling and environmental initiatives introduced by the School

Assist with removal and fitting of office and classroom furniture

Carry out cleaning duties as required

Assist with securing the School, locking and unlocking the premises and parking control

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

An understanding of basic maintenance work with general handyperson skills

Basic IT skills

High level of accuracy and an eye for detail

Good communication skills

Full driving licence

Candidates with a trade such as plumbing, painting / decorating, carpentry or electrical would be desirable, although not essential
