Contract: Permanent.

Hours per week: 40

About the role of Commis Chef:

You will be part of our dedicated and friendly team at our Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel and support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the smooth running of the kitchen.

This role would be suitable for an individual who loves food, has a passion to learn and wishes to progress their career as a chef within hospitality industry.

You will deliver the highest standard of food quality and presentation whilst achieving budgetary requirements, maintain the standards of cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with our HACCP house rules, and cleaning schedules. In addition you will also assume responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the senior chefs.

Ideal you will have:

Previous experience of catering for large groups, pastry chef experience, working in busy contract catering environment.
Excellent knowledge of food hygiene, HACCP and COSHH regulations and a relevant catering qualification including Elementary Food Hygiene certificate, SVQ/NVQ in catering, food production.
Excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions
Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as unsupervised during busy times
Ability to multitask and work under pressure whilst remaining calm
Excellent time management skill.
Desire to learn and a passion for cooking
