Category Assistant - Placement Student

We are Hiring! Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for a Category Assistant - Placement Student to join our central Marketing team on a 12-month Fixed-Term basis. This role can be based at either our Hereford or Telford sites.

The Category Assistant - Placement Student will help support the development of category partnership with strategic accounts and play a vital role in identifying and maximising Avara business planning and identification of opportunities in line with key business objectives

Purpose of the role

As a member of the Commercial team, you'll help manage the successful growth of our strategic customers, through category analysis, insight and market understanding.

Your key responsibilities will include:

To support the development of category partnerships with strategic accounts, preparing data analysis for customer review meetings

To maintain the database for merchandising and assortment, once trained in merchandising and assortment analysis with our software provider.

To prepare merchandising and assortment for review, along with the preparation of monthly category and market updates for the Category

Manager to share.

To report on sales performance, distribution points, waste analysis and channel performance

To play a support role in identifying and maximising Avara Foods business planning and the identification of opportunities in line with a key business objective, researching relevant ad-hoc market insight to internal and external customers.

To support the creation of a new capability in merchandising and assortment to advise our Retail partners.

What we are looking for:

Good communication, persuasion and presentation skills

Strong numeracy, analytical and data interpretation skills

A high level of creativity, innovation and passion

Knowledge of the UK marketplace, consumers, shoppers and retailers, with an understanding of marketing principles

Ability to identify trends and patterns within market and shopper data

Appreciation and awareness of social medial and online retailing trends and performance

Educated to degree level in relevant discipline.
