Tenure: Permanent, Full-time, Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year (10 days distributed throughout the year)

Primary Role

To keep the art studio ordered and tidy To work with the art staff to prepare lessons To stock take and order materials To keep the equipment in good working order To assist with the department budget To ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to To help students build armatures or other structures as required To make canvases for students To load and unload the kiln, firing the kiln (training can be provided) To create screens for screen printing (training can be provided) To keep the darkroom in good working order (training can be provided) To run the laser cutter and assist students (training can be provided) To take minutes in the department meetings Secondary Role

To assist teachers in practical lessons, such as printmaking and ceramics To work with students on individual projects and assist with making as required To work with Art and Drama Departments to create sets and props for the annual school musical To coordinate display of artworks across the three Schools To organise the annual mid-year, GCSE and A-level art exhibitions. This will also include assisting staff with displaying and curating the works To ensure the safe and efficient return of GCSE and A-level work to students on release date To contribute to the organisation and running of co-curricular and enrichment activities, as well as wider School initiatives where applicable Such other duties as the Principal may reasonably direct The successful candidate will be likely to fit the following profile:

Qualifications

Art background would be useful but not essential Knowledge and Experience

Ability to use woodworking tools for making canvases and building armatures Excellent IT skills essential Ability to carry heavy and bulky items Prior experience working within a school environment would be an advantage A good understanding of health and safety issues in a school environment Personal Qualities
